Shipping every week without turning the work into a performance. What we learned from a year of building in the open.
Two meeting days, three maker days. The schedule that finally stuck.
A Markdown editor, tags, a featured post and scheduling. Nothing to install, nothing to update, no server to patch.
Visitors subscribe and get one email per post, from your blog’s name. RSS, Atom and JSON Feed for everyone else.
Small pages drawn on the server, with the title, description, link preview, sitemap and structured data of every post set up for you.
Pick a theme, or edit every template from doctype to closing tag, with history and rollback.
Your site is a database file of its own, not rows in a table shared with everyone else. Download all of it, anytime, on every plan.
Restore your entire site to any moment in the last 30 days. Recent changes, to the second.
Put it on your domain with automatic SSL, from the Starter plan.
Every word the platform draws, from buttons to error messages and emails, in 17 languages, right to left included.
Everything you can click is also an endpoint, with scoped keys and webhooks, on every plan.
We run the servers, the updates, and the backups. You publish.
On the free plan: unlimited posts, subscribers and emails, comments and search. Starter puts your blog on your own domain and takes the Simplest1 line out of your emails.

Ghost does more for a paid newsletter: memberships, paid subscriptions and a newsletter editor. If that is your business, it is worth its price.
Ghost’s prices from ghost.org/pricing for up to 1,000 members and its help page on exports, checked October 4, 2026, in US dollars.
There is no Ghost importer. The API takes each post’s title, body (Markdown, or the HTML your export holds), tags and original date.
Add a redirect from each old address to the new one, by hand or through the API, so nothing you shared breaks.
There is no bulk import of subscribers yet. Through the API each address is asked to confirm by email, up to 200 a day.
Not today. Simplest1 Blog is for publishing and email updates; if paid memberships are your business, a membership platform fits better.
No. Every plan emails each post to every confirmed subscriber. On the free plan each email ends with one line, Powered by Simplest1; Starter removes it.
