Simplest1 Knowledge Base

Answer it once.
Let them find it.

A help center your customers can search, a widget inside your product, and a list of what they looked for and did not find, so you know what to write next.

What a help center here does.

Answers while they type

Suggestions under the search box as readers type, on the help center and in the widget. Keywords you add catch the words your articles do not use.

Know what to write next

See every search that found nothing, and which articles readers found least helpful from a Yes or No under each one.

Help inside your product

A search box and the articles for the part of your product your customer is in, in a frame you paste into your app.

Articles that keep up

Every change kept, compared and restorable, translations for your customers’ languages, and old links that redirect when you rename or move an article.

Switching from Help Scout?

Help Scout’s free plan holds 10 Docs articles. Past that, Docs comes inside a help desk billed per user, $30 a month each ($25 billed yearly), so a team of three pays $90 a month. Simplest1 Knowledge Base holds unlimited articles on the free plan, and $9 a month covers your domain and 3 seats.

Help Scout’s price buys a whole help desk: a shared inbox, live chat and reports. If you need the inbox too, compare it with that.

Moving over

01

Bring your articles

There is no Help Scout importer. Their Docs API hands you every article; ours takes each one with its category, keywords and body, Markdown or HTML.

02

Keep old links working

Add a redirect from each old address to the new one, by hand or through the API, so nothing you linked breaks.

03

Swap the widget

Replace the old help widget with our two lines, and choose which categories each screen of your product shows first.

Underneath, a platform that is yours.

Your data, in its own database

Your site is a database file of its own, not rows in a table shared with everyone else. Download all of it, anytime, on every plan.

Undo a bad day

Restore your entire site to any moment in the last 30 days. Recent changes, to the second.

Your own domain

Put it on your domain with automatic SSL, from the Starter plan.

In your visitors’ language

Every word the platform draws, from buttons to error messages and emails, in 17 languages, right to left included.

An API for everything

Everything you can click is also an endpoint, with scoped keys and webhooks, on every plan.

Hosted and handled

We run the servers, the updates, and the backups. You publish.

Free, and never priced per user.

On the free plan: unlimited articles and readers, search, the widget, feedback and history. Starter puts your help center on your own domain and adds team seats.

Questions, answered.

Do my customers need an account to read it?

No. The help center is public, searchable by your readers and by search engines. Only your team signs in.

Is “Was this helpful?” tracking my readers?

No. A vote counts once per visitor, article and day, from a hash that changes every day; no address is stored and the vote sets no cookie. Your team sees each article’s score; readers never do.

Can I organize it my way?

Categories with sub-categories, in the order you drag them, articles ordered by hand within each, and related articles you pick.

Will my old links keep working?

Rename or move an article or a category and its old address redirects to the new one by itself. Addresses from your old help center redirect once you add them.

What happens to my articles if I leave?

Download everything anytime, the whole site as files. If you close your site, you have 30 days to take everything with you.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Enter an address, your name and your email, and you are live on the free plan. We ask for payment only when you upgrade.

Start your help center.

Your first article can be live in the time it took to read this page.
